Web App for Outdoor Workout Equipment
Introduction
Taipei Eco Gym program includes a series of outdoor workout equipments in Da’an Forest Park. Water-aerating bike (活水飛輪) is the first project of Taipei Eco Gym program. People can exercise and help water circulation at the same time. I designed the digital interaction of the bike.
I planned for the users to make some changes after playing the game.
Feasibility Assessment
In the very beginning of the project, the development manager and I spent 2 days deciding on the tech we were going to use according to data transmission as well as our allocated time. We choose to use a dynamic URL to distinguish who is really using the facility from all people access our website.
Because this project is open to public users, I believe most would be using it for the first time. Lowering the threshold to use efficiently increases the number of people making use of the equipment.
I made a map of user flow to explain all pages and how users interact with the game interface. The main users of this document are developers. We spent a lot of time discussing how the interface should react in different situations so the user flow has been iterated numerous times.
In the other hand, I did wireframe in the same file with user flow. The main user of wireframe is the UI designer. He used it to see all the elements and text on a certain page and design the graphics and motion.
I planned the Google Analytic events and goals to track the use funnel. Besides, I organized game data to meaningful information. Here are 3 key achievements.
Data analysis led to interesting results. The game I designed is used similarly to common workout equipment. Users who log in versus those who choose to skip vary by time of day. Users who skip login mostly play on the weekends 3:00-5:00 pm whereas users who log in mostly play 7:00-9:00 am and don’t have as much variance between weekdays and weekends.
